Jade

A new addition to the family, Jade!

My sister's new puppy, We went to the north shore animal shelter in port washington and picked up this cutie. Shes a retriever lab mix I guess. There are so many good dogs and cats there its sad to leave, I would love to be able to give them all a home. I can not fathom animal cruelty and it should be treated just as severe as a human to human crime.
Anyways on a brighter note, I ate brisket that night! A day with brisket is a good day indeed. The family went to eldorado, which was nice for us all to go out. We all had corn poppers as a app which was pretty good. Then I had a brisket/rib combo and a nice large toasted lager.

After dinner we stopped at the liquor store to pick up an after dinner treat. Some carolans irish cream and coffee to fight the chill in the air.

Blind Guardian NYC part |||

Ah so anyone that knows me knows I do not need to make a post about the Blind Guardian show to tell you how amazing it was. Epic, Legendary, Fantastic, And too fucking short! They played just shy of two hours and this show friggin flew by. Anyways, got a awesome spot stage right, right up on the railing in front of Marcus. First band was nothing to right home about, The second band Holy Grail was pretty sick though. Thrash with a lot of power metal themes, entertaining. Blind Guardian opened up with Sacred Worlds, which was awesome and went into the classic Welcome to Dying. The energy that these guys put off mixed with the crowds worshipping like state makes for a great show every single time. Blind Guardian has been myfavorite band since I first acquired a taste for music, Over 10 years of BG loving. Saw them in 2002, and 2006. The setlist was perfect, could not ask for more. They played a good mix off the new album and a good mix of all there classics. Of course I could have stood there andwatched the whole discography but I understand there isn't the time for that.
1. Sacred Worlds
2. Welcome to Dying
3. Born in a Mourning Hall
4. Nightfall
5. Fly
6. Time Stands Still
7. Time What is Time
8. This Will Never End
9. Lord of the Rings
10. Tanelorn
11. Imaginations From the Other Side
Encore
12. Wheel of Time
13. The Bards Song- In the Forest
14. Valhalla
15. Mirror Mirror
Being there with good friends and die hard fans singing along to these songs really puts a smile on your face. Il be sitting here waiting another 4 years for their return.

Kate Nash Terminal 5

Saw Kate Nash this past Friday at Terminal 5. Ive been listening to Made of Bricks for a while now and love the album. My Best Friend is you I got about a week before the show and it was in constant rotation with BG AtEoT, anyways really enjoying this album to. I think I might like it better then the first, a lot more punkish. The show had its ups and downs. The ups being she played about everyone song I could have wanted to here, with enthusiasm, and Kate's voice sounding good. Unfortunatly, The band was pretty terrible live, aside from whatever Kate was doing. These guys rushed through the songs, and were a all around bummer. Best song of the night IMO was Seagulls. Overall the set was pretty good. Got a setlist which is always nice :)
Picture of the setlist is mine, the rest were found on the interwebs from my show.

Kaiju at the Warsaw

Kaiju Big Battel, need I say more? Years ago back in 2003 me and Dan wanted to head to Boston and see Kaiju. Turns out we never got around to it and KBB faded into the mist for me. Luckily out of nowhere I got a invite for a KBB show in Brooklyn at the Warsaw. I basically bought my ticket on the spot. This day was full of fun. We both got off of work around noon and took a train to wood side where we transferred. Some brass monkeys went down on the train and I had to leak like a monster so we found a place I could go before we jumped on the subway. Conveniently We were right down the road from 5 pointz and we didn't even know it. I've been trying to get to 5 pointz for a few years now and haven't gotten around to it, We were just walking back to the subway and waltzed right on by, It was awesome to see, especially because we didn't even plan on it.
After this we head to Brooklyn to get near the show so we know our where abouts. We were looking for something to eat and found this awesome awesome awesome authentic Polish restaurant. Unbelievably cheap and unbelievably good. I got hunters stew which was a mix of meats and cabbage and other vegetables for 5 bucks. Dan got pork loin potatoes and cabbage for the same. We split an order of perogies that were delicious. 24oz's of Polish beers for 3 bucks.

And for the main event, KBB. We wait on line and toke up a bit and grab one last polish beer. This show was incredible, A hundred times better then I thought it was going to be like from watching the DVD. Tons of classic heroes and villains came out and a bunch of ones I didn't recognize either. There was Dusto bunny, American beetle, Cycloptopuss, Kung foo chicken noodle, One of the plantains, French toast, Hell monkey and many more. Entertaining story line with top notch monster wrestling. So good.

P

Sushi and Pumpkins

Went out for a sushi night with Natalie Shawn and Meg. Started off with some Ika Yaki, which is sauteed squid. This was real tasty with a BBQ flavor aftertaste. After this I had Yakitori which was pretty typical. For my main I got a triple roll, tuna salmon and yellowtail wrapped in soy paper with mango slices. This was awesome, mango is my favorite fruit and having it tied in with my sushi was delicious. A few rounds of sake and were good to go.
So after Sushi ya we went to this bar called croxleys and got nice and finished, some Delerium Tremens, Hop Head, Apricot Wheat, and its time to go home.
The next day the four of us went out for some pumpkins and fall fun. We stopped at this wrap place called Wrap it up and I got a nice Mexican burger with mango salsa on it, Again cant get enough mango.

Brooklyn

Ah So Becky and her friend matt came up from virginia to visit, They stayed in brooklyn for a day or two at her friend Britt's house. Me and natalie went in Saturday to say hello. This was a fun day full of eating and drinking. The weather was beautiful so we took a walk to this little spot on the water where we could sit and catch a glimpse of the city on the other side. After this we ended up strolling into this awesome spanish bar/restaurant called Papacitos Brooklyn. We all got a few tecates and I got 2 tacos. A Anjito pork taco which was delicious and then a Chorizo taco which was also very good. reasonably priced and super tasty. On the way to ournext stop we passed a polish bakery and just by looking in the window I said, holy shit we need to go here. I got a Cream crumb donut ( for me ) a Powder cream donut ( for nat ) and a bottle of water for friggin 2.90. These donuts were the best Ive had. After this we hit up this real neatbar called The Levee where they have 1$ black labels and free cheese balls. They also have goodbeer too if you want to spend the money. I got a delerium tremens and a dog fish head.Anyways this place also has free board games for everyone to use and a awesome little backyard with a giant connect four game to play. After this we went to Britt's place which was a real nice apartment with awesome roof access. We hung on the roof for a bit drank a tecate and smoked some greens while the sun went down. One last taco at truck on the way back to the island and this sums up a pretty perfect day.

PORCUPINE TREE

So the day is September 24th, 1 year exactly since I saw porcupine Add Videotree last. I get off of work early and head in to meet up with Sean. Its about an hour before the show so we head to the heartland brewery so some beers and pre show snacks. Anyways, Porcupine tree put on a AWESOME set, beautiful light show with some beautiful videos going on in the background, great sounds, and a WIDE array of songs. They come out playing all OLD school stuff and saying thanks for listening the main act porcupine tree will be out next while they take a break for a couple of minutes. After they head back they still play all early album material, with some breaks for a few songs off the Incident and a few others. A 3 hour set but its amazing how Time Flies ;) . Vampire Weekend

Another great show at Radio City, This trip started off with me taking off of work which is always a good thing. I drove to Natalie's then we took the train into the city where we met up with rob. We were starving so we ate the first thing we saw that looked pretty good. Brother jimmys bbq, decent food and decent prices. Me and rob got the brisket sandwich and biscuits and gravy. Natalie got a bbq chicken sandwich which was pretty dry and gross, ah well. Anyways we then proceeded to go to radio city. The opening band, Dum Dum girls, were entertaining. Reminded me of a pretty punk girl band. Then Beach House came on, they had these white pyramids that lit up which were real neat looking. This was a good set to sit down and relax and watch. Vampire Weekend put on a awesome sounding set, it was basically CD quality. I really would have liked to see them at a smaller venue with more energy and a closer feel, but the sound quality made up for that. All in all a good time. Vampire weekend setlist below,

Faire thee well!

Good times with good people this past weekend. Me, Natalie, Matt, and Steph hit up the NY renn faire up in sterling forest, A favorite past time of mine. This place is great again and again. Roast meat, ale, mead, beautiful weather, shops, and shows. Il get some pictures up as soon as their uploaded on the comp. After the faire we went back to spend the night in Brooklyn, which is where Steph lives. Some rooftop pizza at Graziella's which was a fun time and a couple of dogfish head 90 mins down at the Brooklyn public house (both were delicious I might add) and its about time to hit the hay. Wake up some Brooklyn bagels and head home. A successful weekend it was.

Long Island

I can't believe people that hate on Long Island. This place is beautiful. I live a one minute walk from the beach, literally. The water was perfectly clean and warm, and it made for an amazing swim. Where else can you get off work eat dinner and walk right to the beach for a quick refreshing swim. Not having to worry about driving there and paying 10 dollars for parking, which is rape. I wish I got a picture of the sunset tonight it was one of the best I have seen in a long time. It was the brightest orange glow. There definitely are some shitty people here on LI but that goes for everywhere else. The cost of living is quite high too but you get what you pay for. NYC, Beaches, Nature preserves, close to upstate just to name a few. Anyways, I'm in a loving LI mood.

day out

City with lullz and dan, started off by going to 2nd ave deli for some delicious pastrami and brisket,
This shit is what pastrami is all about.

The New York City Museum of Sex was the next stop on the list, this made for a few laughs. Then the peculiar pub to put a nice cap on the day. I had to get a Tusker first to quench the thirst I've been having for one. The contestant after the tusker was a Banana bread ale from England which was pretty entertaining, a great flavor that was truly banana bread while also not to over powering. I would still just have one of these, could get a bit sweet after a while. After the BBA, unfortunately I chose another sweetish beer, good but a one time deal. Ephemere apple ale from Canada. Heres some flix from the pub.
